Winning Beer WHEEEPA!
Hobby Brewing Competition organized by Maisel & Friends and BrauBeviale
The inventiveness and creativity of the hobby brewing scene is both fascinating and inspiring. That's why we launched the hobby brewer competition together with BrauBeviale a few years ago. It took place for the seventh time in 2024. A total of 148 beers were submitted for the competition theme “Wheat IPA”. Pascal Wolke came out on top with his brewing creation from his Cloudworks Heimbrauerei (home brewery). At the end of September, Pascal visited us in Bayreuth to brew his winning recipe in our brewing workshop together with our master brewers. It bears the name “WHEEEPA!”, a word created from Wheat Beer and India Pale Ale and inspired by the enthusiastic exclamation of our master brewer, a passionate Wheat IPA fan. This is where Bavarian Wheat Beer meets American India Pale Ale and combines the best of both beer styles to create a tropical, fruity firework of aromas.
BrauBeviale will take place this year from November 26 to 28 and is the most important capital goods fair in the beverage industry. Pascal will be presenting his beer to the public there.
Just in time for the release, registration for the Hobby Brewers' Competition 2025 will start. The competition theme is Italian Style Pilsner.

Maisel & Friends WHEEEPA!
Our WHEEEPA! shines golden and opal in the glass and exudes an aroma that blends the two worlds of hops and yeast. Ripe banana, pineapple, melon, mango, peach and citrus come into their own. From the very first sip, it is clear where the beer gets its name from. WHEEEPA! provides plenty of fuel, as all the previously perceived notes combine in the mouth to create a tropical-fruity firework of aromas. The beer is creamy, smooth and wonderfully full-bodied. Perfect finish guaranteed: Dry and with a pleasant bitterness – just as it should be for an IPA. Absolute WOW effect! WHEEEPA! is a Wheat IPA that leaves you wanting only one thing: MORE!
