Our beer is vegan
Treating our environment with care
As a family business, our actions have been geared towards sustainability for generations and measures for climate protection and animal welfare are very important to us. That is why we also offer plant-based dishes in Maisel's Schalander, our canteen, and have been able to increase the proportion of vegan dishes to over 30% through campaigns such as Veganuary. We have also decided to produce and bottle our Maisel & Friends beers 100% vegan.
Our beer has always been brewed in accordance with the Bavarian “Reinheitsgebot“ (Purity Law) using only the four natural ingredients water, malt, hops and yeast and has therefore always been vegan. However, most beverage manufacturers use a label glue that contains the milk protein casein. After lenghty research, professional exchanges and practical test phases, we are able to apply our labels to the bottles with synthetic glue, making Maisel & Friends beers 100% vegan!
We have had all of our permanently available Session and Signature Beers certified and they have carried the V-Label on the back label since spring 2024. Our limited special brews also get along without animal-based label glue, but we do not have them specially certified due to their short-term availability and therefore they do not carry a vegan seal. The V-Label is a pioneer in the industry and has been a globally recognized and protected seal of quality for identifying vegan and vegetarian products since 1996. The brand was launched in Switzerland and has since served as a reliable guide for consumers to easily and safely identify vegan and vegetarian products.
