Art of brewing + street art = A perfect match!

Already in 2018, our highly coveted art beer edition could prove that art of brewing and street art are a perfect match: Brewing beer is incredibly diverse and there are countless possible combinations and that's why we think brewing can be seen as an art, too.

And so, we came up with the idea that a beer brewed in an artful manner has to be decorated with an artistically designed label. That's why we always try to get internationally well-known artists onboard to jointly develop an idea for a beer of our art beer edition. In the next further step, our Maisel brew masters create a new beer specialty and the artist designs a matching label that shows the hand of its creator.

Maisel & Friends Hazy IPA

For our Artbeer #5, Stefan Thelen, also known as Super A, was the perfect partner. He not only loves art but also enjoys beer, preferably full-bodied and smooth beers that aren't too bitter. Together with our brewmasters, the Maisel & Friends Hazy IPA was created, perfectly reflecting Super A's preference.

Our Hazy IPA presents itself intensely cloudy – hazy – with a pale golden color. From afar, you can already smell the incredible tropical fruit basket that the hop varieties bring to the beer. Aromas of mango, passion fruit, citrus, pineapple, and orange enchant the nose and make you crave the first sip. In the mouth, our Hazy IPA delights with a pleasant, creamy-smooth mouthfeel, so smooth that the second sip won't be long in coming. The tropical notes shine through perfectly, making the heart of every hop lover beat faster. The bitterness is very subtle and harmoniously integrated.

Artist: Super A

With his distinctive style, Super A transforms familiar iconography into imaginative and colorful artworks. He places the artistic crown on the Maisel & Friends Hazy IPA and invites the connoisseur to immerse themselves in a mystical wonderland of hops and the Cheshire Cat even before the first sip. We've had a great friendship with the artist Super A for quite some time, as he has already been involved in the design of our Love Beer Urban Art Hotel. His interpretation of Alice in Wonderland adorns one of the exterior walls of our hotel.
