Home Brewing Competition by Maisel & Friends and BrauBeviale
Our home brewing competition took place for the eighth time in 2025. We searched for the best Italian-Style Pilsner—and found it in Markus Klössinger's creation. At the end of September, Markus visited us in Bayreuth to brew his winning recipe in our brewery workshop together with our master brewers.
Maisel & Friends LunaHop is a German classic with an Italian twist: an extra dose of hops gives this tart Pilsner a floral freshness and light citrus notes, rounded off by a subtle malt sweetness. The name is a reference to the Italian pop group Lùnapop.

Maisel & Friends LunaHop
Eccolo! Maisel & Friends LunaHop presents itself honey-yellow and slightly cloudy in the glass, adorned with a fine-pored, snow-white head. Delicate hop notes unfold on the nose with grassy and herbal accents, accompanied by a hint of fresh citrus and grapefruit zest. On the palate, Italian Pilsener is pleasantly light, dry, and harmoniously balanced. The delicate malt body serves as an elegant backdrop for a precise yet never overpowering hop bitterness. A fresh, invigorating impression invites you to take another sip, allowing the hop aromas of citrus, herbs, and fresh grass to shine through subtly again and again. The finish of LunaHop is clear, dry, and persistently tart, with an elegant aftertaste of noble hop notes.
